Melbourne Brindle (1904-1995) was a noted illustrator and painter. Born in Australia he immigrated to the United States and showed art talent at an early age. After moving to New York he formed his own agency and did illustrations for: Ford, General Motors, Packard, Douglas Aircraft, United Airlines and many others. In the late 1960s Brindle retired from advertising to devote himself full time as an artist. His painting of King Edward Vll’s 1902 Daimler hangs in Buckingham Palace and his painting of the Wright brothers first flight hangs in the Air and Space Museum. In 2007 Vose Galleries of Boston hosted a show of his works.
