The Mermaid paintings of Alan Crane Alan F. Crane 1948-2015. Alan Crane painted in Cape Ann for many years and attended live painting classes at the Rockport Art Association. Alan was most known for his mermaid paintings, all of which were done to order. Clients wishing to commission a mermaid from Alan would give him a deposit and wait sometimes, one or two years for him to complete the work! Alan’s magical realism style lent itself well to the subject of mermaids, perhaps as magic a subject as one could find. These paintings are from private collections.
